I established Home Matters in Perth, Western Australia in September 2001.

I am a Home Economist and was a Home Economics Teacher. I worked in schools for many years. I also lived overseas in England and Tokyo, Japan. I am married with two adult children.

The emphasis of my work is on organising people’s space and storage so they can live comfortably. If in this process they identify that they have “clutter” then we look at the recycling options available. Donating to the client's chosen charities is very rewarding.

By sorting and organising things in the home, clients can appreciate and use the items they own. Paper photos, craft items, tools and children's toys are some of the items I rediscover in bags, cupboards and boxes. My clients then often embrase the process of organising to rediscover their past and change their present way of living.

If people are looking to downsize I can assist months prior to the move by prepacking some possessions and presenting the home for sale. When they are ready to move I can pack and unpack into the new home. If they prefer I can just be "A Helper" coming to do the tasks they find too difficult to do.

I love the sounds my clients make while organising and sorting. “Oh, I have been looking for that!”, “Gee, that’s looking good”, “My children will love you, they can have their friends over”, “You have left me with dust” There are also the giggles of satisfaction or the “oh, yes” as they walk up the passage to take something to its rightful home.

Clients phone me to revisit, to do another room, “tweak” the pantry, help their friend who is moving or take me to an area of their home they were too ashamed to show me on my first visit. It is a journey I love.

In 2006 the Australasian Association of Professional Organisers www.aapo.org.au was formed and I became an active member in WA. My accreditation status is Expert.
